suspended ceiling accessories

Suspended Ceiling Accessories:

Typically, a suspended ceiling consists of a grid system that is made of inverted t-shaped beams. These beams are assembled perpendicular to each other and form rectangular or square grids. The main tees in this grid system are 3600 mm long while the cross tees are 1200 mm and 600 mm long. These grids are used to lay in tiles and retainer clips are used to control the upward free movement of tiles because tiles are not fastened to the grid.

For suspended ceiling installation, you need several accessories. To complete the ceiling installation project, application-specific clips and other accessories may help. For example, application-specific clips help not only with the transition but also aid with squareness.

Here is a complete list of suspended ceiling accessories that you need to complete the project of suspended ceiling installation.

Beam End Retaining Clip (BERC):

BERC clips are suitable for seismic categories D, E, and F. If your suspended ceiling installation is for these categories, BERC clips are one of the main requirements. These clips can also be used with shadow moldings. You also need to use these clips while suspended ceiling installation to meet the necessary requirements because suspended ceilings will be inspected in detail.

QuickHang Hooks and Brackets:

QuickHang hardware is specially designed to support the grid components and ceiling. You don’t need to cut the pre-bent hooks before usage. But if due to an obstruction, hooks need to be shortened, you can bend the top portion of the hook with your hand or with help of pliers. Moreover, while installation, turn all the hooks parallel to joists, or in the same direction.

Clear Hold Down Clips:

Usually, you need 2 clear hold-down clips per panel that is centered on the grid. These clips are attached to the top of the suspended ceiling grid to hold the tile in its place. Moreover, hold-down clips prevent the ceiling tiles from flapping at the entryway. Typically, hold-down clips are not put on the very last panel.

A Laser Level or String Line:

You also need a laser level or string line to indicate the right height for suspended ceiling components installation. You need to place the cross-line laser level at an equal distance from both walls. This distance needs to be equal to the distance that you need to place the lights away from the wall. You also need to place the laser level in a way that allows the laser beam to run parallel to the wall.

A Grid Punch:

It allows one-hand operation while freeing the other hand to open the material. The thin profile and deep throat of a grid punch make punching holes possible into awkward and hard-to-reach corners. For the best results, you can place a steel cup firmly against the back of the material to be punched and squeeze with consistent pressure bringing the pin into the material.

A Sharp Tile-cutting Tool:

You also need a sharp utility knife or tile cutting tool to adjust the size of tiles. First, measure the size of the tile required and mark the length and width required on a fresh tile with a hook of a tape measure. Similarly, measure the next tile at the same time. Then cut the tile making deeper and deeper cuts until you cut through the tile. You can also use a carpet knife instead of a utility knife because a carpet knife is much sharper.

Ceiling Tile Aviation Snips:

You can get specialized snips or all-purpose snips that fit your needs best. They provide you with précised cutting and deliver clean cuts. Moreover, snips provide fast cutting and are perfect for the long and precise cutting of your ceiling tiles. You won’t need to insert much effort while cutting with snips.
